Delicious News!

The Wednesday issue of the The Hutchinson News is always my favorite. I save the Taste section for last and then cut out the recipes I'd like to try. (Please don't ask me how many I've attempted.)

Today's issue did not disappoint! I was delighted to read the article profiling the kitchen demonstrations Anne Dowell is hosting at her new kitchen store, Apron Strings. Catalyst has had the privilege of working with Anne from the beginning of her store's development. We've all been impressed with the way she has implemented her ideas and the quality of store she's brought to Hutchinson, Kansas.

But what I love most about Apron Strings is not the innovative products, the friendly people, or the fabulous demonstration kitchen. I love the ideals on which the store was founded. Anne and her family know the kind of bonds you can build with your family in the kitchen. Everyone needs someone by their side - whether a child, friend, husband, or sister - while they create their own culinary masterpieces (or boring supper dishes).

She's created a store that makes you want to go home and spend the afternoon with your grandma in the kitchen or even take on the task of hosting a dinner party. As I've come to learn, anything's possible in the kitchen and the more instruction you have, the better.

Just ask my sister - our disasters outnumber our successess, but we always have fun. We're counting on Apron Strings to teach us more about the art of food because frankly, we're sick of bonding over burnt cakes and lousy piecrusts.
