The Kansas Underground Salt Museum is included in the 1/4 cent sales tax issue that will be on the ballot November 4. In an effort to educate the public the Salt Museum is offering free tours to registered voters.
This is a solid approach to promoting the value to voters for supporting the renewal, and the Salt Museum's inclusion. Voter's Nights show initiative on the part of KUSM to do everything possible to make themselves accessible to the voters of Hutchinson.
Their intent is to be transparent. They aren't just paying lip service to making the museum affairs and business plan open to questions, comments, or ideas. They are doing it. Even if the attendance at the Voter's Nights themselves isn't huge, the exercise of making the invitation is credible, strategic public relations. And I hope voters seeking to be fully informed take them up on the offer.
