Among the many things that add vitality to Hutchinson, the National Junior College Basketball Tournament certainly ranks right up there. For 61 years it has brought teams and their fans here from all across the country each March. Not only do they experience a great sporting event, they experience a great community and give us the opportunity to showcase our qualities.
The amazing thing is: this highly successful tournament is accomplished entirely by volunteers — hundreds of local people giving their time and talent to make it happen. And they’ve been doing it for 61 years! That says a lot about Hutchinson. It says even more about the spirit of our people and their willingness to contribute to the continued exceptional aspects of our community.
Now it’s about time to once again savor the results of all their efforts. Let’s all gather March 17 – 22 at the Sports Arena to celebrate The Tournament and what it means to Hutchinson. (In the process, you’ll enjoy some pretty darn good basketball, too!)
